Product Overview
An engine that cranks without moving the pump stop lever, starts and then drops out, or keeps running after key-off may have a failed shutdown solenoid. The pull relay, hold feed, ground, linkage, and injection-pump lever should be tested before replacement.
The solenoid moves and holds the mechanical injection-pump fuel lever in RUN, then releases it to stop the engine. It is primarily associated with non-certified mechanical 8.3L C-series configurations, not every electronically controlled Cummins application.
