A priming pump is most useful after changing fuel filters, replacing a hose, running the machine out of fuel, or opening the injection supply circuit. It lets the operator or technician move diesel through the filter and lines so air can be purged before attempting a restart.
The same excavator model can be fitted with different engine and fuel-system arrangements by serial number or market. For that reason, the safest match is the pump body, port layout and engine/fuel-system configuration on the machine rather than the ZX model alone.
