Product Overview
An outboard with no spark on both cylinders, intermittent shutdown when hot, or an ignition signal that fails specification may need a CDI module. Before replacement, test the stop circuit, stator, trigger, grounds, coils, connectors, and cranking speed because the module is often blamed for faults upstream.
The CDI stores and switches ignition energy at the correct timing signal. It cannot restore spark if the charge coil or trigger does not supply the required output.
