Product Overview

If a 675 Series mower will only run with the choke partly closed, surges at a steady throttle, stalls under load, leaks fuel, or refuses to restart after seasonal storage, restricted carburetor passages may be the cause. Replacing a heavily varnished or damaged carburetor can restore controlled fuel delivery when cleaning is no longer practical.

Briggs & Stratton identifies stale fuel, dirt, and debris as common causes of small engines not starting or running properly. Confirm the engine model and carburetor layout first, since 190cc and 675 Series labels cover more than one fuel-system configuration.

Key Features & Performance

  • Replacement fuel-metering assembly for compatible 190cc mower engines
  • Helps restore starting, idle stability, and throttle response when the original carburetor is restricted
  • Practical repair after gum or varnish from untreated stored fuel
  • Direct-mount design for engines using the matching linkage and primer arrangement

Replaces Part Numbers

  • 799866 in compatible applications

Common Uses

  • Restoring a mower that has been stored with stale or degraded gasoline
  • Correcting surging, hunting, or stalling caused by restricted fuel passages
  • Replacing a carburetor with a stuck float, damaged inlet, or persistent fuel leak
  • Repairing hard-starting equipment after fuel, spark, compression, and air-filter checks

Technical Specifications

  • Product Type: Carburetor

  • Check for intake-gasket leaks and verify safe operation before mowing

Compatibility Notice

Horsepower, displacement, or mower brand alone cannot confirm fitment. Compare the engine identification, primer or choke arrangement, linkage points, fuel inlet, and mounting flange with the original carburetor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can this fix an engine that surges after sitting all winter? A: It may when the cause is a restricted or damaged carburetor, but stale fuel, a dirty air filter, a fouled spark plug, air leaks, or governor problems should also be checked.

Q: Is this compatible with every Briggs & Stratton 190cc engine? A: No. Use the engine model/type/code and physical carburetor design to confirm the correct version.

Q: Should the old fuel be reused after installation? A: No. Drain degraded fuel and use fresh fuel so contamination is not carried into the replacement carburetor.

My lawn mower was idling up and down and as soon as the self-propelled lever is pulled the engine would die. This fixed that issue. My lawnmower smoked pretty bad after starting the smoke went away in 10 secs. My mower runs perfect now. Installed in about 20 mins. Nice that it comes with new springs and spark plug. Next day shipping and price was a huge plus.

Excelent product comes with everything you need and works great, the only drawback is the fuel bowl is made of steel not aluminum but you can just use the one from your stock carb like I did it is made of aluminum so it won’t rust.

Perfect fit and extremely easy to install. The old carb was more than 15 years old. After this was installed I pulled the mowers start cord a few times to prime the carb (it didn't have a primer bulb) it started right up.Sorry no picks but it's very straight forward. **Tip** take a pic of the carb that's on your mower. Then put thos one on just like the picture.

I left gas in my mower over the Winter which clogged up carb. I could've cleaned the old carb but that's too much work. This replacement was inexpensive, took less than 30 minutes to install and the mower now starts on the first pull! Never leave gas in a mower for more than 30-45 days. LOL I should know this since I repaired at least 50 a season while working at a Big Box store.
