Product Overview
A 300 that only runs with choke, leaks fuel, hesitates off idle, or has varnish deep inside the passages may need more than another cleaning. Before replacing the carburetor, check tank flow, the cap vent, intake boots, valve clearance, ignition, and compression—and compare the choke and throttle connections carefully because low-cost versions do not all fit the factory cable.
The carburetor meters fuel through starting, idle, transition, and main circuits. The original application uses a Mikuni BST31-family layout, but cable threads, choke port, diameters, TPS provisions, and jetting can differ among replacements.
