Compatible Models
We do our best to list all compatible models. Although this may be the part you need, your exact model may not appear below.
- Electrical panels and junction boxes
- Switch cabinets and control enclosures
- Compatible mild steel, aluminum, plastic, and fiberglass sheet
- Stainless steel only within the tool's verified thickness rating
Product Overview
Drilling a large opening in a control box or electrical panel is slow and can leave a rough, wandering hole. After a small pilot hole is made for the draw stud, the hydraulic ram pulls a matched punch and die together to shear a controlled opening with much less hand force.
Conduit trade size is not the same as the actual hole diameter. Confirm the punch markings and material-thickness limits before cutting a finished panel, and never use mismatched punch and die halves.
Key Features & Performance
- 10-ton hydraulic hand pump provides controlled punching force
- Six sizes cover 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1-1/4, 1-1/2, and 2-inch conduit
- Produces cleaner openings than step-drilling large diameters
- Portable kit organizes the ram, studs, punches, dies, and spacers
- Useful for electrical, HVAC, fabrication, and maintenance work
Common Uses
- Adding conduit entries to an electrical enclosure
- Cutting instrument, switch, or cable-pass holes
- Making repeated round openings during panel fabrication
- Field maintenance where a chassis punch is cleaner than a hole saw
Technical Specifications
- Product Type: Hydraulic knockout punch driver kit
- Maximum Force: 10 ton
- Conduit Trade Sizes: 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1-1/4, 1-1/2, and 2 inch
- Die Sets: Six
- Typical Mild-Steel Limit: Up to about 3.2mm / 11 gauge when supported by the tool instructions
- Operation: Manual hydraulic pump
Installation & Fitment
- De-energize and remove all equipment from the work area before punching
- Mark the hole center and verify clearance behind the panel
- Drill the required pilot hole for the correct draw stud
- Lubricate cutting edges and threads and pair each punch only with its matching die
- Stop when the slug releases; inspect studs and dies for cracks or deformation before every use
Compatibility Notice
Northline Parts does its best to list all known compatible models, but the correct part may fit an application not shown.
Model names and year ranges are a starting point. Match the original reference number, configuration, connections, mounting points, and product-specific details before ordering.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are the listed sizes actual hole diameters? A: They are conduit trade sizes, which usually require a larger actual opening; use the die marking as the guide.
Q: Can it punch a live electrical panel? A: No. Equipment must be fully de-energized and made safe before work.
Q: Why is a pilot hole needed? A: The draw stud must pass through the sheet to connect the punch and die.
