Long cranking, filters that will not fill, loss of power under load, or a lift pump that does not run with power and ground present can point to this assembly. Tank pickup, vent, hoses, relay, wiring, contaminated fuel, and injection system must also be checked.
The assembly filters diesel and supplies low-pressure fuel toward the engine injection system. It is not the high-pressure pump, and dirty fuel left in the tank can quickly ruin the replacement filter and pump.
